(PG) (Subject not suitable for young adults)

I remember when,
I was growing up.
Few times we ever got along.
I remember when,
I got scared in my room.
I called out, but you never came.
I remember when,
I tried to end my life.
You stayed by my side only one night,
To make sure I didnít die without you.
Mommy dearest, where are you?
Did I steal from your life and freedom?
Still, I have nightmares of my childhood.
But, I cry for the unknowns, just like me.
I wish I could remember when...
You loved me.

Breaking the chain.
How sad Paula that this is your memory of childhood! You deserve better than that.

Hopefully, you have risen above it and saw it for what it was...sometimes, adults are too weak themselves to nurture their chidren, when perhaps, they in turn were not nurtured.

And the chain goes on...until its broken...hopefully...by YOU!

I REMEMBER WHEN
Your advise is so very wise and well taken. My gandpa gave me the same advise. Actually, he said it was a good thing to remember to see how not to become. That was the only thing that I remember he said that seemed remotely against his own daughter. It WAS good for me to remember because I swore that I would never be like her. I am very close to my three children and even closer to my grandchildren. Not only that, I treat others I meet with respect, instead of seeing what I can get out of them or some type of favor they can repay at a later date. Yes, I broke the chain a long time ago. But remembering made me a stronger person. Thanks so much. PaulaAnne
