Grandkids say things from their heart.
Our granddaughter loved our new home.
It was closer and more spacious than our last.
She inspected every room and closet,
Ran a few times back and forth,
Then came to a dead stop.
She gave the living room a glance,
Then turned to me and said,
“Nana Cow, where is your chimney?
Santa can’t come in to leave presents!”
I explained the stove attachment,
Demonstrated the little black door and said,
“Santa will use his magical power.
He’ll climb through and leave your presents.”
She smiled at me, with her trusting eyes,
And completed her inspection of our home.

SANTA CAN'T COME IN
Sometimes I believe that children could help solve world issues (with the guidance of adults) because of how they see things. Why not allow a child sit in on some of the peace conferences and make suggestions on how to stop wars, feed the starving, or help the sick? Am I being too naive? Our children are our future and it's their future that grownups make decisions about, whether good or bad. My granddaughter hasn't been in a war, but has had to deal with her own personal tragedy. She almost died when she was born and we lost her twin sister. No one EVER spoke of this, but she knew. She taught us that it was ok to remember and said, "It's good for the heart." Sometimes, kids know things we, as adults, seem to forget. Thank you. PaulaAnne
