On my 55th birthday I wanted a fish.
My loving husband granted my wish.
I chose a goldfish with little spots.
It reminded me of my dress with dots.
It swam up, and down and all around,
Our cats watched without making a sound.
It teased our cats by coming to the top,
They didn’t warn me of this at the pet shop!
Our cats tried to touch “Spot” in the bowl,
Quickly he swam into his castle hole.
We laughed for hours watching our cats,
Watching our fish do this and that.
One day my sad husband came to me,
He said,” Spot no longer swims in our sea.”
I said a prayer as he swirled down the bowl,
“Is there a fish heaven for goldfish souls?”
Now the cats don’t play, they only sulk.
Don’t say I’ll have to buy fish by the bulk!

Spot on
Another tragic death followed with swirling ceremony. I was in the mood for something light-hearted, and this hit the spot.

Thanks for having a sense of humor and a kind word. Our 2 cats still sit by the bowl waiting for their friend to reappear, then they look at me as if they know "Spot" is gone. I feel guilty because they have lost their playmate and haven't decided whether or not to buy another fish. I'm still thinking about it. I'm glad you were in the mood for a smile. PaulaAnne
