Once I had a polka-dotted dress.
It brought me so much good luck,
That I wore it every single day!
I was a freshman, a junior and senior,
In my polka-dotted black and white dress.
I was proposed to in that same dress.
I had three children, one after another,
And could still fit into that dress!
I took photos, went to church, and shopping.
I dreamt of how pretty I was in that dress.
Then one day, my husband washed it.
Need I say more? All the dots fell out!
I got divorced, my kids grew up,
And now the only dots I see before me,
Are the checks I initial to pay the bills.
You might ask is there a lesson I’ve learned?
I should have washed my own clothes,
Especially that black and white polka-dotted dress!
