When his baby girl is born,
A father hopes that she is healthy.
When his little girl goes to school the first time,
A father hopes it to be a fun experience.
When his young lady enters high school,
A father hopes that she excels,
Because he knows that she can do anything.
When his grown daughter enters college,
A father hopes that she will be safe.
When his little girl gets married one day,
A father hopes she has found the right man,
Who will make her happy, but not take his place.
Daughter, I am so grateful you were healthy,
And I am so proud you have graduated.
You are everything I wanted in a daughter and more.
Whatever you decide to do in life, you will do it well.
Itís the way you are, you wonít settle for less.
I wish you happiness through lifeís ups and downs.
Remember one thing, you will always be my little girl.

He has told me during different stages in my life)

Dedications. They should have an entire separate section for such poems, don't you think?

Thank you all for your response and reading. I wrote this poem, as told to me by my father through the different stages of my life. His prayer to the Lord for a healthy girl and what he wished for my happiness as I grew up. We are very close and my dad would tell me how he felt about me and what he wished he could do for me. Although mom didn't want me, she wouldn't allow me to live with my dad & step-mom. I do appreciate any and all comments, whether others understand or don't understand my thoughts and fellings. I really do appreciate it. Thanks. PaulaAnne
