For every woman who knows the pain that sometimes comes along with being a

woman

for every woman who has ever given herself to a man

when she really didn't want to

I say

It's over...

For every time that fist you thought was love touched your face

for everyday of lost beauty and grace

I say

It's over...

For every loss you've felt so deeply

thought you'd never recover

in the pit of despair

then you discover

that there's more pain coming your way

and you panic and wonder

and I say

It's over.

For each day of feeling abandoned and naked

unsafe and unprotected

nervously wearing your fabricated skin

hoping no one will touch it and put it to the test

For every battle you fight

to go through the day

to look in the mirror

and see the battle scars

For the mask you wear because you would not dare

to show anyone the real you

I say......

You are a product of all your joys and fears

laughter and tears

Though your days may seem endless

and your nights intense

you are still here

and you can still smile

and you can still love

and you are living

and giving life

and giving peace

You...the product of pain and fear

you are still laughing and you are still here

the way I see it

that makes you irrepressible.

There it is!
What I'd like to dub your 'signature' poem. It's simple, straight forward and packs a punch in the right direction -- toward self healing and validation of the pain that many of us suffer in relationships. It inspires me to walk out the door today and be an irrepressible 'me'. Thanks again for sharing your gift.

Inna
Thanks very much for your support. I do tend to think this isn't one of my better works...but it always works that way doesn't it?

Take it Like A Man
Hey... Men have a Hard Time Too

I was going on a blind date
She said “Call round the House”
I got there it was fairly dark
I crept up like a mouse
Through a bedroom window
Movement caught my eye
I’m such a nosey parker
Just had to go and spy

The image left me reeling
I nearly upped and ran
But hang on just a minute
I’ll tell you what I can
My date was standing naked
There before my eyes
Scouts honour it’s the truth
Don’t need to tell you lies

Reached down for the jam jar
Lifted out some teeth
Followed by a long black wig
Lying just beneath
I saw as she turned round
A bra stuffed full sock
Even worse when I looked down
I saw she had a cock

My legs they started running
I followed close behind
I wasn’t just a coward
Some crap I left behind
Then halfway down driveway
She stopped me in my tracks
I offered her my kindest thoughts
She said “Here are the facts”

I saw you outside spying
Thought I would stand and wait
But when you did a runner
I nearly was too late…..
My dad you see’s an actor
He does it just for fun
Down at the local working club
He dresses up like mum

But at the other window
You would have felt so sad
To see my mother changing
She dresses up like Dad
Don’t worry I wont tell them
I have a little plan
Don’t let on that my mum is dad
Just “Take it like a Man” ???

You are funny...
Eric...I see you have jokes. I needed the laugh today.

Thanks

For Every Woman
hard read for me this, as I'd imagine it would be for many... but the heart of the poem is in "irrepressible" and the recognition of all incredible strength that takes... reading this I remember my mother, abuse made her afraid of a lot of things, but never to laugh or to love... sometimes just living is heroic...

thank you for this poem, of rarely acknowledged heroism...

Women
I'm not a woman, but let me give an ode to my loved one.

She who knows me best,
puts my heart to rest.
when the clouds temper grey
and the darling buds sway,
the seasons changed
you might think me deranged,
but she clothed in Spring, Summer and Fall
and I loved her through it all.
Each element of passion she knew
and Each day I am green (and never blue)
Upon her river I cast a stone
and at night I haunt her home,
How else to treat a being
who without knowing or seeing
has opened the latice in my breast,
oh dearest women, women best,
Creature of unknown,
Never leave me alone,
I am green beside you (and never blue)
and I will love you (and that, is true)

every woman
Exactly!

Off with the masks.

Now!

And this includes hiding behind the mask of the (formerly) repressed whenever convenient.

Good insights in here!

Thanbk you.

Belated thank you!
My apologies for being so late with responding to your kind comments AMG and Windchime. I've been out of commission for the past few weeks. Apparently I've suffered from a repetitive strain injury, not the best thing for a writer or anyone for that matter.

Thank you both for your comments, they are always encouraging and enlightening. I look forward to reading more work and sharing with this community in the next few weeks.
