I WILL GIVE HIM BACK TO YOU
LORD, thank you for giving me my Dad.
I know you’ll need him back some day.
Dad willingly did what you asked him of him.
He rocked me on his lap at night,
And kissed all of my boo-boos away.
I danced softly on his polished shoes,
And we rode roller-coasters over and over.
I watched him comb his hair like Elvis
And he held me close on our weekends.
Dad gave my hand when I was married,
And joyfully played with his grandkids.
As I reflect on his love and guidance,
And “I love you this much” we said,
I will give him back to you some day,
And you’ll care for him like he did me.
Thank you for all our years together.
