She slips into night’s velvet dress
And wraps a shawl of fog tight around
Her mountainous shoulders.

She pierces her ears with
Constellations
And clasps the moon so it hangs
Pale and luminous against her throat.

She only takes a moment
To admire her reflection in the harbor
Before beckoning the gulls to a clatter,

Letting her jealous Sun know
That it wouldn't be prudent
To wait up for her.

Personal touch
I like the use of personification here -- the definition of nature using human characteristics is always interesting to me.

the mountainous shoulders, constellation ear rings, moon broach and then seeing it all reflected in the harbor reminds me some picture of a Northwest city I've seen before, maybe Seattle, maybe San Francisco....

nice imagery

Pre-winter Night
the imagery in this is gorgeous, though the last three lines are my personal favourite the whole thing has a feel of slow, seductive deliberation about it... I'm a sucker for skiful personification, and this has it in spades. beautiful, thanks for sharing this.

The Mysteries of a Woman
This poem was written soft and elegantly, though it rapidly stirs my thoughts into question. I'm not sure if the night explores the mysteries of a woman or if it's a woman exploring the mysteries of the night. I have to settle on the feminine ways of Mother Earth herself. Very good.

I loved this
Sorry, I accidently hit the enter key. Anywho, I really enjoyed this piece. I could vividly picture this seductive woman who only appears in nature. Thanks.

pre-winter night
This has the feel of pre-creation myth, like a prologue, like the story before the story of when Sun and Earth mated to give the world its gods.

Or not.

Maybe, as it`s winter, the Earth is gestating, and the Sun is jealous of her `condition`...

Either way, it conjures up, and sustains, the bigger-than-life. And it satisfies.

Thank you, Meghan.
