my shadow

standing naked
in my own shadow
your name a quivering whisper
slipping through
chattering teeth
no response
no reply
but you are there
i know this
if you were not
i’d cast no shadow
i’d bleed unfurrowed into darkness
i’d be the withered moon

and you can't have shadow without light, right? Shadow isn’t the same as darkness, which is an absence of light, the pain of shadow is from the proximity of light’s presence. Complete darkness- which would at least be whole- seems like a relief in comparison… ‘Least, far as I’m concerned.

highly relatable this, shivering, quivering, chattering teeth and all. I know that feeling, I think. "bleed unfurrowed into darkness" is brilliantly expressed. thanks for this.

my shadow
Loved this, the vulnerable and searching feel of it. The last two lines were stark and poetically stirring.

For Quivering Sakes
Let not!
your moon be withered...
to the shadows of a quivering whisper
