For Michael Dampier
Missing since: 9/3/2004

Our Children…

Our children have gone missing
In cold graves used and abused or sold as slaves…

Our children have gone missing
Walking the streets
Long winter night sleeps
in abandoned buildings
Or in back of empty car seats

Our children…

Our children have gone missing
While some pariah, predator and pedophile
Has something to prove…

Our children have gone missing
1-800-THE-LOST and the National Center for Missing and Exploited
Children are pressing the issue...

Our children have gone missing
With alerts that flash all over the TV
AMBER ALERT…on the sides of roads
Blinking. Blinking…

..and questions asked
#1 being: It’s 10 O’clock,

Our children have gone missing
And war is raging
And yet the headline reads,
“Madonna adopts David a Malawian boy.”

Famine, Aids/HIV, War and poverty, Drugs,
Rape, Violence, Tears Greed and pain
What will be left for our children to gain?

Our children have gone missing
…and where are we? Voices be strong even if you must SCREAM

Our children…
Have gone missing!

Even with media attention, our children go missing.
A very significant signal you send.
We can blame the world state, or the video game industry. Although they do nothing to help the matter, truth is, parents hold the most responsibility.
There is so much selfishness around, that needs first blame. Kids, in my experience, would much prefer real love to ipods. If what parents love is material wealth, kids grow up thinking that is the way, and they remain empty for lack of parental involvement.

You are 100 + percent right, and I feel your frustration. Question is, how do we make it right? How do we change it?

One child at a time is a drop in the bucket. The world will be theirs someday and we do a woefully poor job of preparing them and "it".

Sorry I couldn't bring a bit of light to your too true statement here, but I do appreciate the thoughtfulness with which it was written-

blessings- to you and to us all-

So true...Emaks/Wanda
Emaks, long time no hear! Both you and Wanda are right which is my point, it's a sad state to see and it's sick to know that ADULTS prey on young children, to see their innocent little face's, it makes me shudder and cringe to think of someone hurting them, I look at my daughter and I gasp at the concept.

thank you both for your comments.

wanting to go outside to play? now days with crime and violence it's hard to allow children out doors, and with video games holding their attention this is major, if we as parents would take more time out to spend time with our children/connect..talking/listening, this would a great start.
