...I appreciate the read and kind words.

Though, I do have to disagree with you that this poem could have relied on ideas such as war, rape, murder and the like and been consistent with the notion of the "candy coating" of the turd...those things are all poop, but they really lack that brightly-colored hard sugar shell which makes you want to pick them up and bite into them before you have the realization that you've got a mouth full of shit.

And that's really the idea behind the "candy-coated turd"...that something enticing may not actually be as good as you thought it was once you bite into it, once you get to the core of it.
