we wandered into another department store's fragrance floor, and I made a beeline for the Terre d'Hermès. "You do know that's a men's scent...?" the assistant asked politely.

I don't get it
How is this funny? I don't understand why you wrote this or what you want your reader to get from this...women shop for cologne all the time. Men hardly ever buy it for themselves.
