I run through the dark,
There’s a distant park.
I’m crossing a street,
Speeding car takes me from my feet.
On the ground blood forms to me a puddle.

Just like water.

I feel the pelting rain,
Falling on my back and this lane.
Within the incessant drops,
Everything else stops.
My pain flows away.

Just like water.

There’s no light of any kind,
As I lose sight escape to mind.
I’m alone in this.
In dying…what part of life I miss?
We all fall down and go under.

Just like water.

Such Kind Words
I feel that you've totally grasped what I tried to convey here, and as a writer, I'm excited by that. I tend not to dwell on death, knowing it's eventual, but I'm certainly not afraid of it either, though still I wonder, what happens when this all plays out, I think about if there's 2 parts of us, a physical body and a metaphysical soul. When the body loses control, I think the soul takes over, becomes narrator, and very concisely it does. Thanks for the comments.
