I arrived home to find that I had 5 messages on my phone. I bet all of those are from Aline he thought. He pressed play.
"Edward, this is Aline. I need to talk to you really bad. Its something that has come up. Bye."
Second message. "Edward this is Aline again. Call me when you get home. Bye"
Third message. Silence. No message.
"Edward, this is Sara, call me when you have a chance. Bye."
Last one. Silence again, and no message.
Sara? I havn't talked to her in a long time. I wonder where she is living at now. I guess I'll call her later.
Edward took off his coat and hung it on the rack, put his keys inside his coat pocket.
He was about to go and sit down to watch a little T.V.
Then the phone rang.
"Carnby, this is Aline."
"I had a feeling it was gonna be you."
"Can you come back down to the station?"
"What for? I just got in from taking you down there. It better be something real important."
"What is it then?"
There was a long pause on the other end. "Its Sally."
"Nothing has happened. She wants you to drive her to get an apartment. And she wants someone to stay with her and watch over her while she sleeps. I called cause I figuered you'd be the perfect man for the job."
"I guess I'll come down there."
"Don't mention it. Bye."
Man. I just have got home, now I have to go back out again. Edward walked over to look at his window. It was starting to cloud up again. Looks like another rainy nite Edward thought. "I guess I'd better get going," Edward said outload in disgust.
As I pulled into the police station, I noticed that Sally was already sitting, waiting for me. I put the truck in park and waved my hand for her to come and get in.
She ran over to the truck and hopped in. "Thanks a million Detective Carnby."
"Please, call me Edward."
Edward put the truck in reverse and backed out. I was about to put it in drive when Aline ran out screaming my name to stop.
I told Sally to roll down her window.
"Carnby, can I have ride?"
"I thought you had a car."
"I do, but its in the shop. I wrecked it a while back. Its pretty banged up."
"Get in," said Edward with a sigh.
"Sally your gonna have to move over a little," said Aline while getting in.
Sally moved to where the gear shifter was in between her legs.
"Where you need to go Aline?"
"Well, I was hoping to go with you two to the apartment. I have been staying with one of my friends. And its a long ways from here."
"Okay, whatever. Thats fine."
Edward put into drive and drive off.
Everybody was silence, so Sally decided to break the silence.
"Edward, how old are you?"
"Same age as I am."
"Aline how old are you?", said Edward.
"I'm twenty-seven.", and not getting any younger. Everybody laughed.
They pulled into the apartment complex parking area.
"You two wait here. I'll get the key to one of the apartments," Edward ran out. By now it was pouring rain, real hard. Edward was soked by the time he got to the front door.
Edward slowly walked in.
"Hello?" He looked around the place.
"Hello, is there anybody here?"
"Yes, sir? Can I help you?" The man looked like a skelaton.
"Uh, yeah I need a room please."
"I'll let you have the room for free."
"Its number 12."
Edward walked out the door. What a strange person he thought.
He got back into the truck. Its number room number twleve."
Edward drove his truck over to it.
"All right everybody run to the door."
They all got out ran as fast as they could.
"I have the shower first," said Sally with a tone relieve in her voice.
Edward unlocked the door.
"Well, this looks like a nice place to stay," Edward said.
To be continued...
Notice: This is my third chapter in it, and the 2nd chapter isn't recognized as the 2nd chapter cause I didn't put it in. So you'll just have to look at both of them to see which one is chapter one and two.
Sorry this is so slow right now, but I'm building to it, slowly but surely.
