I hate liking you
I hate every flirt
That dead-ends
On the road of temptation
I hate standing in the doorway
Of unending rejection
I hate guessing
At every shameless
Tug on this rope you’ve bound me with
Lurching towards something
That feels so real
Only to have the rug
Ripped out from underneath me
As I’m strangled with expectation
I hate wondering
Where you are,
Who you’re with,
I hate when you look at me
And my knees go weak
I hate every part of
This guessing game
But I will never forfeit
For this desire to know the outcome
Runs too deep within
