The young expect old people to die,
They feel no remorse for them.
Old people are unusual. Old People look
At the world through eyes of child wonder.
Old People marvel over small things;
But the old people know when the dead are truly gone.

Old People
haven't read you around in a while. glad to "see" you. "But the old people know when the dead are truly gone." that's an accute line. like, a realisation that life is finite and limited lends that life wonder, wisdom and empathy that's like an almost supernatural second-sight, walking between this world and the next, which is something the remorseless young people don't have. ... blah, my explanation's gone cross-eyed, sorry, flue. Really liked this though, succinct little gem.

Well said
Very cool. I like the blurring of the oldest and the youngest in here -- something that needs to be recognized more often! The last line packs a real punch.

Young at Heart
I know plenty of these oldER (Grandma is looking on) people you describe...what you have said is so very true.

'...through eyes of child wonder...': My grandma (I have called her "Granny Polar Bear" since I was five years old) proudly shows off her still-strong build by doing the Superman flex and chanting "Da-da-da-da!". It cracks me up.

Good read
Short enough and tough enough to still stay in finite realm. Don't ask me what I mean, i'm making it up as I go along:D
