Maybe Tomorrow

When I go to work, at the start of the day,
I ask of myself, "Will I earn my pay?"
Will I give them more than’s expected of me,
or the absolute minimum they need to see?

No matter how old or how tired I get,
I’m sure if I try there’s more life in me yet.
I’ll meet every day with new vigour and speed,
and try to give more, than the ‘least’ people need.

So what if it leads to an earlier grave,
while wrecking my body my soul I will save.
But hang on a minute…. my advice, I will follow,
though I’m too tired today, so ‘maybe tomorrow’.

Ivor G Davies

The moment created this second, is a moment that's going to last.
It lives the full spectrum of time, the future, the present and past.

Maybe Tomorrow
Procrastinators of the world unite! Seems to be a lot of that in the air at the moment. Liked this, a pleasing "I give myself such very good advice but I very seldom follow it" poem. Ah well, we're only human. Enjoyed.

Clever and true
Too true. Too too true. Um, guess where I am right this moment?

Officially, anyway, my job here doesn't involve reading and commenting on poetry!

Fantastic, lots of fun, clever as always. It's good to have you back!

Duh
What I meant above was that my job at the university doesn't involve reading and commenting on poetry. I'm having a brain-dead day. Sorry!

Ivor's tomorrow
I used to kill myself at my job...and watch as the slackers do nothing and get the same pay...but when my district manager said to me," We don't care who does the work as long as it gets done." Meaning to me you can kill yourself...who cares...as long as the work gets done by someone...and the slacker still makes as much as I do...I still believe in giving a good days work for a days pay...but nothing more than that....good job...Kacee

Catchin' up......Tomorrow
Hi Ivor. Very nicely said. I always wait for tomorrow for important things that should have been done today, somehow tomorrow never does come.

Love that you are here posting, I've missed you.

I wish I can
Me too, I wonder those things. Another masterful poem to ponder, the message is clear.
I need a day off.

Well done,

BW
