We're an echo in your mind space,
the whispers in your thoughts.
The authors and the actors,
of dark and secret plots.

We watch you when in public,
we're present when alone.
Our purpose not so obvious,
but always is it shown.

The science of your hopes and dreams,
a yardstick for your measure,
a silken noose around your neck,
a suffocating pressure.

We're the line that makes a circle,
the guidelines of free will,
elders to the Suicide,
killers of the Thrill.

We paved the way for you to walk,
we've always had your trust.
We do what we can for you,
because you're one of us.

The following comments are for "Doctrine of Society"

..has been summed up and served rather toastily in this poem. The first line was a little awkward for me (mind 'space' just didn't do it for me, sorry) but it smoothed itself out and like the snowball rolling down a hill in old cartoons, it gathered strength and pace as it went along. Third and last stanzas were my favorites.

The rhythm is edgy, I like it. The rhyme scheme is not as important (for me) then the noir setting of society. Good poem.
