Past twelve on another day
that girl sat in the lamplight,
watching the few pass by

She never thought she’d be here,
here at midnight,
she never thought she’d be here,
over that boy.

Dust-covered moths by the lamps,
searching for what she had lost
but she’s out of reach, too far up,
above the earth, above the sun,
that girl is sitting on the moon
praying her midnight never ends

She never thought she’d be here,
here at midnight,
she never thought she’d be here,
over that boy.

He doesn’t love her anymore,
she never loved like that before
and all those promises said
hide like the life at midnight,
that’s why she’s sitting there
past everything she cares.

The breeze is like the songs
he used to sing for her,
it’s a warm August night
but December always comes,
he whispered secrets
and she gave him lies,
so she needs her midnight.

Past twelve on another day,
that girl sat on an airplane,
watching the lives pass by.

She never thought she’d be here,
here at midnight,
she never thought she’d be here,
over that boy.

She doesn’t love him anymore.

Complex
There's a lot going on inside this character's head, and I'm still sorting it out. A rich portrait of someone whose present is caged in by her past. Delectable.

she needs her midnight"
it's a wonderful title, and the poem itself is pretty psychologically complex and emotionally subtle. It felt to me like she's only able to relive her past, her most secret thoughts, at midnight, when the darkness will keep her secrets, when she finally has peace to feel... but that could just be me. Eiter way, this one is one to come back to, I liked it.

Windchime's take on "Midnight"
Yeeah...I think I agree with Windchime's take on this poem. And, like Viper9, I too find it delectable and complex.
