NB: Got back to what a call home. DR is short for Dominican Republic. It's deja vu, nostalgia, homesickness redeemed and what-have-you. I wanted to unburden this.

sweat-effused warmth
blanketing my body
in this country
of parrots and bananas
was never more welcome

smile-donned faces
greeting my solitude
are heaven
with bursting love
streaming from heart

hugs felt deeply
inside longing
and searching
redemption and a full cup
but it's much better
breathes through you
like childhood memories

pats on shoulders and grins
do magic without hats and rabbits
they give you reason
life is worth waking up for
God is worth believing

ignorance in innocent
faces is lovely
because there's beauty
in such small things
touches your soul
warmly

haitians peeling sugar cane
like acquired art and taste
and selling orange juice
is humility
taken with pride

i live with all this
feel through it
that in the end
those things you love
remain

Magic without hats
..and rabbits. This was refreshing - even though I've never been to the Dominican Republic, this captured for me the sense I get when I return 'home' - although I have a few of those scattered across the US. Thanks for posting.
