You fondle pain and
savor pleasure.
I know it.
You feel it.
Yank it back,
pulling it in while
whispering,
"Itís a good thing".
One foot cautiously straddles life,
the other dangles
fearlessly over deathís cage.
Thrilled with the haunt
you gnaw at it,
storing its blood in tainted bottles,
for tomorrow youíll need it
to resurrect from the grave
and into another reality.

I am on a journey. Looking for Me. Everyday I get a little closer. The more time goes by the more I realize I'm always changing. This journey could take forever... Renae L. Soler

Dead Man
There are lots of things I like about this poem, the idea of fondling pain, of being cautious about living but reckless about death, and resurrecting from the grave again each day.

I got the impression of a person (perhaps a poet) hoarding emotions and experiences greedily, selfishly. It's the whispering "it's a good thing" that does it. For some reason I get the image of
Scrooge rubbing his hands over a pile of gold (but in an emotional or spiritual sense).

Think maybe I identify with this... Just a little. Think there are times when everyone nurtures the pain and rage inside them, 'cause they need it's energy to incarnate each day. Although maybe, just maybe, I missed the point spectacularly (?)

Oh yeah, and you don't hear the word "yank" enough in poetry, or anywhere else for that matter.

Really liked this one, think I'll be coming back to it again.

!!!
Why this doesn't seem very Naeish at all! Where did it come sfrom? We're seeing a new side of you, I think. I like the current of eroticism bubbling beneath all this death. There's something enticing about this poem.

What A Dead Man Thinks
See, there is nothing wrong with being dead. Maybe this "dead man" is really a dead boy. Will aborted fetuses one day be dead children?
oh yeah, this was a very well written poem. It's nice to see that you know the dark side too.

Dead Man
AuldMiseryguts, I think you may have gotten this piece better than I did! So happy you identified with it, well you know what I mean!

Viper, Naeish! That is hillarious! What a compliment, well I think. Yes it is, I am glad not to fit into a box, I need room to grow. This was inspired from a writer/poet I am very fond of. His ideas about death intrigue me. He is an incredible writer and makes me think WAY TOO much, if there is such a thing!

G.S.V. repeat readers are my favorite although I truly appreciate anyone that stops by to read my craziness. So happy this one was not in character for me!

Thank you Tina, definately not my realm of work. But I am trying to branch out. My muse on this piece is pushing me out of the ordinary I believe!

Baal, there you are! Mr. Dead Man himself! Thank you for the inspiration. You intrigue me with your thoughts and work. It was a pleasure in all it's pain to write this one. I am so flattered you like it since I wrote it for you! Don't know that I know the "dark side" but I am getting to know some of it through you!

I was worried that this would not be received well coming from me, thank you all for making me want to keep stepping out of the norm. BUT sex is still my favorite topic. Sorry to disappoint! ;0)
Thanks again,
Nae

Growing
Nae,
I agree, this is different, you ARE changing as a poet. This poem spells torment to me. Something that has gnawed at something else, something starting to come unraveled....

Nice, top scores
