Exposed and Write off
Tina, the idea seems simple enough but I agree with Viper. Don't you think a personal interview catered to the participant would be more interesting?

Dirty old man you are it! I will get you and Dar a theme and a deadline in the next few days. No sharing the theme, let members figure it out at the write off.

Thanks,
Nae

Hmm, Tina
You seem very good at this. Are you interested? We could have 10 standard questions and maybe 5 personal ones? What do you say?

Random interviewers
Random interviewers sounds great too. Volunteers?

( Posted by: nae411 [Member] On: August 7, 2006 )

Okay
Okay, I could maybe be reliable enough, like Tina, to do one or two interviews along the line. Not in the next couple of weeks though, as I have this little 300-page project I'm trying to finish . . .

Viper and Tina
Well great! We now have two of you lined up. Tina would you think about someone you'd like to interview, ahem.. like Viper maybe. Hey I can give a suggestion, can't I? And then the ball will officially be rolling. Any questions, send me a PM or email!

Hugs,
Nae

Thank Nae
thank you for moving this issue over here; I am really freaked out that so much response happened on this one question. Now it is two topics; write off and exposed. Here is my take on both:

Write Off: My vision is to have several write offs going on, with many voters voting -- smaller groups of voters for each competition (5 or 6). The voting audience is selected based on their Lit.org input and activity as Nae suggested. Whoever is running the competition will send invitations to the voters telling them which entries to read and vote on. There will then be two brackets one for losers and one for winners. The stable of voters would change, and vote on the same pieces as others have. It would be more like a horse race where one of the original loser(s) could very well end up with the highest score and we have all read each others stuff and had to apply some thought about it. It would probably generate some "exposed" candidates. Not a perfect plan, but I definitely think something that is structured will be easier to manage, more fun, more fair to all...

on "Exposed": I think a set questionaire would do the job for about 80% of the general interest stuff, i.e. "How long have you been writing?" "Have you ever had a story, book, or poem published?" "What is your favorite type of story to read? (mystery, humor, instructional?)" That type of questioning -- it could be sent out on a word.doc form, point and click, email it back to the interviwer who will then think up a few more in-depth questions, i.e. "What personal experiences have inspired you to write?" "How many cars have you owned?" or whatever.... My idea for "Exposed" interviews is two each month, then more once a good process is developed.

I will unpost my original post on Tuesday -- that should give everyone a chance to follow up to this site.

Thanks all,
I really did not think there would be so much interest, but I think we really have some good stuff going on and would love to improve.

If I were to interview two lit memebers, first would be Lucie, she has such keen perceptive abilities, next would probably be Tina because I think her life experiences and idealism is so much different than mine.

But I will interview anyone, read anything, participate in anyway and help out where I can. My time is pretty open so I can pitch in where-ever it is needed. Just let me know.

Thanks.
Brian

BWoz
I didn't think members were so into this either, glad to see they are.

Your idea sounds very interesting but not sure if we could get it going or not, maybe something to think about once we get it rolling again.

Exposed twice a month sounds great to me, that'll give everyone time to read. You were talking about Tina and Lucie, both wonderful candidates. Here is a sneak peak from the past.

Not self promoting here but hey they are in the same interview.

Interviews
I must admit, the lifestyles of the rich and famous have never appealed to me.

I would not mind learning more about some of the writers here on Lit. :) I really hope you guys do this, it would be a great move.

Hi Nae, Write Off?
I was just wondering how you will contact me, by email or PM here. I have not been receiving any email notices when I am posting, whether my story was submitted as well as any comments.

I am kind of eagerly getting cold feet. LOL. No, I am looking forward to this write off, but I am up against a dirtyoldman and much enjoying that whew!!!! Mr. Hotstuff........LOL.

Thanks hun,
Dar

Nor I
I've not been receiving email notices either, thus my heart is full of sorrow.

Can't wait to see what happens with the Write Off! Too fun.

Dirty & Dareva-- Write Off
Sounds like fun. I like fun. I wish there were more of it to go around. I wish you two luck and pleasue in your writing contest. I must give up my computer time to my Bill now. He is breathing and drooling over my shoulder like loud sloppy horse!

( Posted by: Legs [Member] On: August 7, 2006 )

Dareva and Viper
I will contact you by PM. Dar have you checked your bulk mail? For some reason mine started coming there. I had to add lit.org as a contact in my address book and then they came to my regular inbox again.

Nae

( Posted by: nae411 [Member] On: August 7, 2006 )

( Posted by: Viper9 [Member] On: August 7, 2006 )

Viper Voyeurism!! Legs!

Legs, I think that YOU and Viper should be the next ones up........LOL.

A match made in Lit.heaven.

Exposed around
Nae,

I do like the round table format of the example interview. I think it would also work on a one-on-one format- so we probably don't need set questions. However, I for one would like to see common questions asked of every person interviewed, I just don't have a clue what the standard question(s) should be.

Yeah, the tournament format for write off would be a lot of work to organize, and to keep it rolling. It would require a lot of dedication from all members to be sure the competitions began and ended in tact.

Maybe this first one will get it rolling and we can tweak it here and there. How will we, the readers know when the written pieces have been posted?

Write off and Exposed
There is a seperate banner for Exposed, so you won't miss it, and The Write off also has something flashier than just a regular submission. I am getting the rules together for the Write off.

I am going to open a seperate thread and ask members to post a question they would like answered. This will give the interviewer a feel of what the public wants. Of course they can add to it from there. I think one exposed interview every 2 weeks would work. If we do more than that I think they will get lost in the shuffle.

What say thee?(is there a plural for thee?)

( Posted by: nae411 [Member] On: August 8, 2006 )

I don't understand?
I sometimes don't have the time to get here more than a few days per month. I would prefer something on a monthly basis instead, but that's just me. I'm easy and flexible. (MountainBill is too)This all sounds like fun to me.

( Posted by: Legs [Member] On: August 8, 2006 )

Oh OH, Dar can't write,!
Sorry all but my computor monitor just ran out of ink. . .

oh a couple drops left . . .

LOL

Just joking, just waiting on what and when I should write!!!!! LOL.

Lighten up gang, just come to Thunder Bay for coffee around my Round table, we'll tape and video it all, what a trip that would be!!!

wine, coffee? Spring water? Bubbles??

Dar ;-)

( Posted by: Dareva [Member] On: August 8, 2006 )

Thunder Bay!
Either I never knew you lived in Thunder Bay or I forgot. That's a beautiful area. Been there several times. You're lucky.

So when's the Write Off, nae? I wanna see what dar and Dirty come up with!

( Posted by: Viper9 [Member] On: August 8, 2006 )

Write off
Dar and dirtyoldman I will give you both a private topic tomorrow (both the same of course). You will have 48 hours to turn them in. When submitting make sure you put it in "The Write Off" category. Poems can be no longer than 200 words.

Rules will apply to ALL voters. Must be lit.org members for more than a month, must have work previously posted and comments made. Must vote on both pieces.Anyone voting that does not fit this criteria will be deleted.

Looking forward to it.

Exposed Nomination
Nae, please interview Viper!

( Posted by: peterpaulino [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

Exposed Question
1. What's the story behind the writer's/poet's username (e.g. viper, windchime) or pen name, if he uses any?

2. If you are to identify yourself with a writer or poet, who is it going to be?

3. The story behind one of your composed poetry?

I hope these questions are asked, as I always hoped these were asked in the previous Exposed!

Thank you Nae! ;-)

( Posted by: peterpaulino [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

Exposing Questions...
All 3 are "Superb" questions to be asked of the Individual being Exposed...

Questions I have wondered about, but never thought could or would be answered...

But to have someone queried during and "Exposed" interview... sheer genius...

Well done little buddy...

( Posted by: daprdan [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

Oh...
And, Congratulations nae411...

I was VERY pleasantly surprised to see you chosen as a Moderator...

An extremely wise choice by the staff of Lit.org...

I Will have to visit MUCH more often now...

( Posted by: daprdan [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

One More Possible...
Question...

The story behind the Avatar chosen...

Is there a symbolic meaning or some other reason for it's choice, as reprentation of the individual?

( Posted by: daprdan [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

Daprdan & Peter
Thank you! So happy to hear you will be visiting more, wait you can't visit your own home, LOL.

Great questions Peter!

Nae

( Posted by: nae411 [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

Yeah Tina!
So happy to hear you are getting ready to take it on! Look forward to it and I am here whenever you need me.

Nae

( Posted by: nae411 [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

And their off!
Rules and topic have been sent out to Dareva and dirtyoldman. I expect everybody to join in and vote, comment and cheer them on.

In a write off, comments must be directed at that piece of work only! Also you must vote on both pieces or your vote gets deleted! Woo hoo!

Nae

( Posted by: nae411 [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

( Posted by: Dareva [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

I must be losing my mind
LOL, first posted "there off", deleted, wrote "their off" and duh, it is "they're" and I thought I was good at proof reading. My thinking cap must have been eaten by the washer.

re: Exposed!
Bob Callaci is an interesting man and I wouldn't mind knowing more about him, but why start off the first interview with someone who's previously been interviewed? Just curious.

( Posted by: gomarsoap [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

Brother
My long-lost brother (or wasn't it me who's got lost?) Dan! And Nae, please, have an expose interview of Dan too! I remember Dan was supposed to be next in the interview until things mellowed down here. ;-)

( Posted by: peterpaulino [Member] On: August 9, 2006 )

write off Dar and DOM
Nae! I'll support the write-off, count on me. Darlene, my cheers to you! Glad you are finally competing in the write-off, I'll certainly watch-out for this. Good luck to you too DOM!

Exposed
I would like the interviewers to choose who they want to interview since they are volunteering, right? If we do two a month hopefully we'll get to everybody by the year 2050, LOL.

I too would LOVE to read about Viper and Dan, Peter and the list goes on and on and on.

Nae

exposed!
Hi Nae, I've been interestedly (is that a word, if not, I coin it) reading. Love the life that seems to be coming back-
May I interview PeterPaulino? I have too many time constraints on me to say when, but he and I can get something to you and keep you posted? Peter? You game?
So nice to look in here and see so many excellent writers/friends appearing.

Looking forward-
Elizabeth

( Posted by: emaks [Member] On: August 10, 2006 )

Emaks
If Peter is game that works for me. I will post them in the order I get them. Make sure when you submit them you post it under "Exposed" I will validate them in the order I get them in!

Thank you!
