Hello, my name is Nae. Some of you may know me and others may not. I am a new moderator here. Yes feel sorry for me, I need the sympathy! (Teasing of course) I have been around for a while and also supervise The Writing Forums. I do this with pleasure because I genuinely care about these sites and the writers. I want to clarify that I am the first that believes in freedom of speech, believes in non censorship however these are not public forums, they are privately owned.

It seems that there are some who protest here as to any moderation. As I am sure you have noticed this is not a heavily moderated site, nor is that something that is wanted here. I feel as writers we are each responsible for our words and can express them with out getting down and dirty. No one expects for us to all agree, but flaming (definition: insulting criticism or remark meant to incite anger, as on a computer network) is not permitted. I am sure we can all get our points across without going down this path. If you know me you realize I am not one to incite, censor, mislead or meddle in otherís affairs. So please letís just keep the peace and once in a while agree to disagree without resorting to personal attacks.

My two cents,
Nae outÖ

Trolls
Internet trolls.

Followed the Link
I've followed this latest tiff only sporadically since returning from vacation. It's been intriguing, to say the least.

I followed your link, WH, and before finishing the first paragraph I realized that, to avoid hypocrisy, you should probably stop referring to others as trolls -- unless you want to promote trolldom as a new ideal. That might be fun, actually.

Trolls: A Full Time Job? Advice to the wise and the stupid...

Good advice to Wh there Viper9!

By the way, beware of the link that WH provided in this thread. That site has a virus No joke. Had to expel the thing from my comp.

There are better sites on the internet that give a good definition of trolls. In fact, there are several sites, message boards and chat rooms on the internet dedicated to those who troll as a full time hobby on the internet. I've recently read that there is a whole new trend of trolls who will sit around
for months, even years on site, even
become moderators and just so they can aspire to become
king/queen trolls with all the power. I didn't make that up. Read it for yourself.

This is a safe link:

I'm glad you're around again Nae, I know you're not a troll. You have always been a very fair moderator.

Moderation
Hey Lucie, I agree with you girl, but it seems a few can't fight the temptation to inflame situations. I hope that will change.

Charlie,I was not able to access the link but I know very well what a troll is.

Viper, nice to see you around. When are you going to post some of those pyscho stories I love so much?

Unseenwriter, thank you. I am looking forward to being here more.

Pen, thanks girl. You know me, I am a lover not a fighter!

Gloves are off!
Yeah Rogan!! Nice to see you here man. I hope we do get past this silliness soon and get to move on to some real writing. Hey you know I got a pretty good left myself???

Nae ;0)

Nae411
I would hardly call it "silliness". These are all real people with real feelings. I empathize with those who have been victims of this one man whom I will not mention by name.

Have you noticed what UnSeenWriterX managed to do on the DougSoderstrom thread? I think it is wonderful. I'm so happy to know that all those who have been victimized and hurt have decided to move on.

You've commented on my poetry once. I didn't know you were an editor. I'm happy to meet you.

I hope to read some of your poetry soon.

Best Advice: Be Kind
Hey Nae,
Nice to see some sense, passion and heart show up here to get things back to an even keel!

I don't know what 'moderating' entails, but any way to see something like this show up within say, the first 5 comments, and be shifted to a thread for the purpose of *arguement*? Might abate some of the attention that seems to drive these things. Pride is a powerful force. It's kinda funny that a vehicle such as an anonymous internet still requires "saving face". Perhaps our avatars are more than mere pixels.

Was so pleased to see such sage advice from all commentators here.

Didn't follow WH's link, not for any animosity, just no interest.

Also, I thought troll was a verb, used in fishing, but it may just be my boyfriend trying to confuse me ;)

Thanks again Nae. (And hi Lucie- nice to see you!)

blessings all-
Elizabeth

A+ advice Viper9 & Unseenwriterx
I tip my hat off to Viper9- for his advice to williamhill.

I want to thank Unseenwriterx- for the super informative *link* he posted. I've seen my share of trolls in my internet lifetime, and I thought I already knew everything there was to know about internet trolls? After reading I realized my knowledge was trite and limited. Very expansive and comprehensive reading.

Nae Moderator, have you commented on my poems or Leg's poems? You look familiar. Too tired to go check.

( Posted by: MountainBill [Member] On: July 21, 2006 )

Apology
Legs, I want to apologize. I never meant "silliness" to imply that the people that were hurt were being silly. I was referring to the back and forth fighting/name calling mostly done with the intent to inflame. I understand why feelings were hurt and empathize with that.

Elizabeth, It is nice to see you around my friend.I know lit.org has a wonderful group of writers and commentators, I am looking forward to seeing it be all it can be. Damn I sound like I want us to join the army. I know bad joke. Anyway it is nice being home.

Mountainbill, I have commented on your poems you are correct. I have been a little distracted at writing forums and not here as much as I want to be but I am hoping to spread myself out thin and be at both.

TGIF (thanks sweetie)
Hi Nae sweetie, I'm all better now. As far as I'm concerned those who blow smoke can just eat it. I'm not going to let it rattle my pretty powered bottom. Everyone tells me you are the fairest in the lit.org land, so it must be true. I'll trust you then.

Did you read link that Unseenwriterx posted here about the culture of trolls? Can you imagine it? They have a whole troll culture?! Oh my Lord honey I couldn't believe what I was reading. What struck me instantly was what I read in the very first paragraph> that one of the favorite tactics used by the real troll is to be the first to accuse everyone else of being a troll! Isn't that just shameful but sneaky sweetie! Got to run dear. Its friday and I have to get ready for a 'girl's night out".
Have a fun weekend Nae. You're a doll. I like that shade of lipstick. I wish I had lucious round full lips. What am I saying? Of course I can have those...collagen injections go a long ways honey! All I need now is a fat rich sugar daddy to pay for it all, lol ;D

Yes TGIF!
Castaneda, I want to thank you for jumping on board. I think we are all going to do just fine. It takes alot of wisdom to be able to let other's words sink. In doing that it doesn't give them the oppurtunity to use lit.org as their soap box. Have a great weekend, and thank you for liking my lipstick... I do too. Hugs.

Good luck, and much praise, Nae
Best of luck to you, hon. You're a good writer and commentor with great instincts. Your dedication to this site is clear, and I know you've got the best intentions for all members at heart. Couldn't ask for a better helper around here.

So... Be prepared to pay in blood and tears

; )

As they say, "No good deed goes unpunished."

Remember, though... If you help even one aspiring writer to find his/her voice, and to move one step further down the path of their art... you have done more for this world than a thousand mundane, milling, mules who toil at the ropes of daily commerce. And you will do more for the grace of the craft than all who try to tear you down.

My prayers are with you, lovely one. Be strong and you will bring strength. Be calm, and you will bring peace.

Or, as Rocky Balboa so eloquently put it, "Go for it."

Namaste, indeed. Namaste.

( Posted by: andyhavens [Member] On: July 23, 2006 )

Thank you guys
I appreciate the support. I will do my best that is all I can promise. I really believe if we all work together this site will excel.

My heart is here, that is for sure. Now Andy, blood and tears? Can't I just pay with sweat and a few minor headaches? Sounds much more pleasant.

Hugs,
Nae

Ashmedai I hear you...
I did read what you wrote, very carefully. I had to make my position clear as well as you felt the need to. I want these comments off of member's threads. This is moderation thread and is public, if you don't wish to PM please comment here. You will not be deleted unless of course you are personally attacking a member.

We need to bring some peace to this site. I don't want to keep beating a dead horse. We all know the issues at hand. And members have the right to disagree, this too is part of free speech.

I hope you can understand my position. Free speech constitutes realizing other's have the right to it as well.

Hope we can find a middle ground.

Red Button Pushers belong in CUBA! (not you Nae)
Oh my God sweetie! I can't believe this! I'm so upset! Ashmedai is right honey. All the threads have been censored to the point of incoherent! The truth has been covered up and swept clean away by W********** and P*******

Leg's was deleted? She wasn't flaming! Unseenwriterx was deleted? He wasn't flaming! My comments have all been completely deleted! If that's how its going to be honey, then I'm not going to be a part of this facade. I'm with Ashmedai sweetie, I think that the little Red buttons are for those who have something to hide or who want to control the minds and memories of others.

Nae, I know you believe in free speech dear, and I know you have nothing to do with this outrage,
but some people on this site don't believe in free speech or truth.

Oh my Lord, dears, I am so repulsed by this whole ordeal. It has all been so emotionally draining! If someone is going to flame me then go ahead and flame me honey! Go ahead and tell me that gay people are perverts! I can take your mouth! I'll give it right back to you beeotch, but don't give these bigot bastards the power to then edit the comments to the point that only their side remains on their thread?! To the point that truth has been so distorted that it no longer makes any sense to read. To the point that all those who criticize are made to disappear! This isn't Castro's Cuba sweeties! This isn't Saddam's Iraq, dearies!

Private forum or not, if this is a writer's site it makes no sense to have threads that allow for rant and opinions and then allow all who disagree with those rants or opinions to be censored and made to disappear. If that's how its going to be dears, then why allow the opinion and rant categories to exist? Why bother commenting, if that's how its going to be!!! Why bother commenting on those rants and opinions if the whole thread and all the dissenting critics and commenter's are going to be censored by the author. Waste of my time dears.

I don't believe in back stabbers and two face writers sweeties! Don't bother commenting on my thread if you are one of those. Don't bother acting as if nothing has happened. I don't have the memory of a peanut. If you are o.k. with that then that is you're problem and you have no business calling yourself a writer. Writer's don't censor each other, that's the job of governments and religion! I'm not stupid and I'm not going to support those that have slapped me in the face and then pretend it never happened!

Castaneda
Castaneda, I may agree with you but it is not the point either way. The fact is freedom goes all the way around. If it is your freedom to say it, it is also the right of the owner of a thread to remove it. I hope you understand my point. As well as if you write a post and later feel you want to delete it. Who am I to question you? After all they are your words. Correct?

It would be the same if you were not wanting someone's comment on your thread. If you wanted it removed I would. Now it would be quite another matter if you were asking me to remove a comment made by someone else on someone else's thread that had nothing to do with you. I would be the first to say no.

Kind of like we each live the way we want in our own home. Do you understand what I am trying to say?

Pure-Heart Writers do not belong in CUBA!
Castanedalupe,

Your comment title caught my attention and brought a smile to this old goat. What you say here is true. Your comment is a rant in itself! I apologize for my angry outburst of yesterday. When I found what had been done to this site I became very agitated, I did not mean to get you upset. Do not rule out or give up on this site entirely. Do continue writing from your soul as you have been doing, always keeping it real! You will grow and develop greater writing skills and become a more effective communicatior over time. Me thinks you write from a pure heart. What would become of truth and writers if it were not for the pure-hearts among us?

Truly,
Ashmedai
