“Mama”, Sally said, “Where is Tabby?”
“I don’t know. The last time, I saw her she was in the back yard sleeping on a patio chair. I’ll go outside and look for her.”
Her Mother Maria told her “I can’t find her.”
All of a sudden Sally heard Tabby cry. She looked all over for her. She could still hear her cry. It was like she was in danger. The cry of Tabby’s was coming from the avocado tree in their back yard. Sally went to the tree and saw Tabby hanging onto a branch of the tree. Sally went to tell her Mother. Her Mother mentioned to her that her Father was not at home and would not be home from work for three more hours.
“MAMA! How do we get Tabby out of the tree?”
“I know I’ll call the Fire Department.”
She went to the phone and dialed the Fire Department non-emergency number. Her Mother gave them the address and what was wrong. She also told them that the cat was her daughter’s pet named Tabby. They told her “we’ll be at your address in five minutes.”
Five minutes later, they arrived. The Fireman Tom Smith came to the door after they arrived. Maria showed him the tree where Tabby was. He looked over the situation and told Maria, “I’ll have Tabby down in a few minutes. Just let me go get a ladder.”
Fireman Smith went to the truck and got an extension ladder. He took the ladder to the tree and extended it so that it could reach where Tabby was. He then climbed the ladder and grabbed Tabby by the neck. He got Tabby from the tree and descended the ladder. A few seconds later, He gave Tabby to a waiting Sally.
He then said, “Sally! Here’s your pet, Tabby.” He then gave her to Sally.
“Oh! Thank You.”
Fireman Smith then picked up his ladder and returned it to the Fire Truck. He told Maria before they left that “if you need us for anything just give us a call.”
Sally said, “Thank You! I’ll make Tabby never climb the tree again.” She petted her on the neck and took her to her room to let her rest. Besides it was time for Tabby to eat.
The Fire Truck went away and Maria told Sally, “Sally! Take Tabby to the kitchen so she can have some water and her food.” Sally did as she was told and Tabby never climbed the same tree again.
