Not in Rhyme

This cannot rhyme, I must try change,
my verse I'll try to rearrange.
Oh hell, I know, I've made it rhyme,
my pen's the culprit every time!

I'll try once more to write this poem
without a rhyme to keep it flowin'.
I don't believe I cannot do it,
there really should be nothing to it!

There's something wrong within my head,
I should take heed of what I said.
I said, “I mustn't rhyme this time”,
but rhyme's in every bloody line!

Well I give in, I am not clever,
my poetry will rhyme forever.
I'll never make a decent poet,
if it's not rhyme… I just can't show it!

Ivor & Fairplay
Tsk, no he says to rhyming,
and the hell with timing,
Yet each lyrical note he plays,
expands and swells many ways.

He says, I mustn't rhyme this time,
yet twice in one line there is a rhyme,
Aye and two pirate brothers the same,
Trying to quit this rhyming game.

If i had nothing to strive for,
And I would not read a poem Ivor,
than my life would be a dull day,
of course, also without Fairplay.

So keep this rhyming game up,
And next time, raise your cup,
For you rhyming is inspired,
and by all, a passion desired.

non-rhyming rhyme
ryhme a line
line in time
time is mine
mine is rhyme
rhyme is mine
mine is time
time in line
line a rhyme

Now un-rhyme that Eric!

Sure we could 'thread' this one Siah....

Have Fun

Ivor and Siah
This was fun - just what I needed after a torturous day in the car with too many relatives.

Well, all this certainly made me smile
Seriously, there's not much to be said about this one. For what it was, it was perfect, and the two reply poems were in the same vien. After pulling a twelve hour shift at work, I needed a smile, and all ya'all provided.

Love. Peace. Metallica.

Yeah, Fun..
This was funny..I remember those times when I spent time looking for the rhyming words for my poems..Many times I simply write without them.

Thanks for the post.

Re: not in rhyme
Dear Ivor, enjoyed your rhyme. I have the same trouble. I am trying to write non- rhyming stuff,
And I'm like a fish out of water! But remember
a lot of very famous poets were also rhymers
and take heart! Fun piece! Bonnie

Sing A Song Of Sixpence
Enjoyed your poem and the "comments." Put a big smile on my face.

Personally, I can't rhyme for crap - it takes a special talent.

Fairplay, very funny with the backwards stuff, you crafty devil. And the spellcheck remark - hardy har har.

This thread could be called, "Jousting In Rhyme."
