What I Want To Write
I want to write something happy,
Something insightful and a little sappy,
Like little bits of old wives wisdom,
Something frivolous and fun,
And put each line in a fortune cookie.
Itíd be so easy.
I want to write something beautiful,
About this sunny summer day,
About the waves crashing,
And children splashing,
In the San Francisco bay.
And maybe I may.
I want to write something romantic,
Honest and not pedantic,
Capture the pure sensation,
Of lips on lips, of loveís elation,
Devoid of frantic lust,
And abused trust,
Someday I must.
But most of all, I want to write something true,
I want to write a world where I donít lie to you,
A world where I donít have to pretend,
That sheís ďJust-a-friendĒ.
I want to find where the lies end,
And where I begin Ė
I begin to lie.
Want me to write something happy?
I canít, Iím not happy.
Want me to write something beautiful?
I canít, this isnít pretty.
Want to write something true?
Here it is: Iím sorry,
That I'm not.
