An angel came from heaven,
armed with the power of prayer,
to see a soldier’s mother
who was buried in despair.

The angel asked the mother:
“Why is it that you grieve?”
The mother said: “I’m sure he’s dead,
it’s just what I believe.”

She hadn’t had a letter
in over thirty days.
and hadn’t had an answer
even when she prays.

The angel pointed to a box
(that suddenly appeared,)
and told the mother: “Open it.”
She couldn’t, due to fear.

“Have faith,” The angel told her,
“in all the prayers you said.”
Walking toward the box
the mother still feared he was dead.

With trembling hands she raised the lid
and slowly looked inside;
thirty days of letters, stacked neatly
side by side.

All that is necessary for the forces of evil to win the world is for enough good men to do nothing...Edmund Burke
