I love to crochet,
to begin with just one thread,
I choose my colors carefully,
and start creating in my head..

I always start with one long chain,
then start putting the stitches in place,
and I stop and hold my work up sometimes,
to admire its look of lace..

I diligently keep working,
each time I sit down to rest,
until the creation, once in my head,
starts to form, like a bird makes her nest..

As I work I don't count the hours,
just make the stitches, one by one,
and I stitch as I talk or watch TV,
until all of the stitches are done..

And when my work is finished,
I lay it out upon the bed,
I stand back and admire its beauty,
as a new pattern begins in my head....

Thanks
Thanks for the comments. It's just something I love to do. Great for the nerves. Sometimes you have to rest and I'm one of those people who thinks sitting is wasting time. As I get older I find I need to sit more, so my crocheting is at least accomplishing something.

crochet

Interesting subject, I remember my grandmother trying to teach me as a child, but I could not grasp how to crochet. I wanted to write and read. My mother just crocheted me a "throw" recently, and I felt much guilt over the fact that I don't possess these traditional traits. I think it’s a neat art that takes much patience-I had asked my grandmother once as youngster what the logic was behind knitting and she replied by telling me it was because I needed to be doing something “useful”. I never understood that. Was that an older generation thing? Anyway, thanks for taking back that journey.

Need Voice
Kathie,

I don't know how or why I have not read your poems until now, but I will add you to my "favorites" because I think you have a unique poetic voice - very unselfish and always with wisdom.

Very nice job
