Hide and Seek,
From the Shadows,
Into the Night.

Tossed into the shadows, surrounded by shades of gray
This was all you knew, this place you learned to play.
A game of hide and seek, you learned to play it well
Deep down in the catacombs, with spider webs so frail

Exploring every chamber, you know every nook and cranny
Always knowing just where you are, your senses are uncanny
Stopping but for a moment, hearing the winds ghostly howl,
Sniffing the air intently, again you’re on the prowl.

Nestled deep among the vines, unmarked, and vaguely concealed
Moon beams fall thru and old well shaft, once said forever sealed.
Dust particles shimmer in the pale moon light, and then slowly fade away.
The change is coming quick, as you hastily begin to pray.

Pain rips thru your body as it slowly begins to transform,
This is only the beginning, of the nights impending storm.
Claws replace what use to be hands, with wings upon your back,
Eyes that glow an emerald green, penetrate the darkest of black

Jagged teeth, designed for killing, fulfill your thirst for blood.
This night will be written in history, and marked by a crimson flood
Darkness is your only friend, as the impending light will revel,
The path of death and destruction, marked by every soul you steal.

Take flight into the night air, to the place that you call home.
Somewhere deep under ground, somewhere, deep in the catacombs.
Until the night comes calling, in the shadows, you will stay
Playing hide and seek, between the nighttime and the day.

interesting
I don't know who your talkting about, but the imagery is great. Just one question, why does he leap into the night air then go deep into the catacombs?

Hide and seek
Siah, As the poem says in the transformation , the deamon grew wings. Just a skip ahead, he then would posses the power of flight. Since his thirst has been fullfilled for the evening, It would seam kinda silly for him to walk back to his hiding place in the catacomb,s. Not trying to come across as a smart ass but I thought that the answer to your question was pretty clear.
Thanks for the comment.

Hold up
I meant, I understand the wings, I understand the catacombs. But why would a creature that has gone through a transformation return to the "old" catacombs. Catacombs (the word) make sme think of something old and transformation (the word) of something new. So when he changes I didn't expect him to go back to the catacombs but to a new hunting ground.

My Bad
I,m sorry and please except my humble apoligie, His transformation is nightly, there for limiting him from living a normal life.
Again, Please except my apoligie. I am truly sorry for my first response. but I have been getting some really weird messages lately from someone on this site.

Fantastic!!!!
This scared me too!!! The poem is riveting - it held my interest from beginning to end and I could see the catacombs and literally feel the dampness. This is absolutely wonderful work - More!!! More I say!!!
I disagree with Kitty - I am staying out of the catacombs, thank you!!!!! Not without a cross, holy water and Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
