--drowning except fear--

Can't get over the quiet
late night sound of my breathing
drowning out everything except fear.
That little ill which crawls
up your spine leaving face red
and sparkles at corner of eyes.
Down inside all the needs of worry
settle on loneliness
and someone’s running away.
Quiet holds sway on dark places
wants stillness at every cost.
