Segregations still alive
I see it in the neighbor lady's eyes
Black family moving in next door hit her by surprise
Before we could even politely say hi or even open our mouths
Lady was heading in the house
her only thought, how do I get these people out
She clutched the pearls, hanging from a red neck and grabbed her daughter
then reminded the girl of things she taught her
"They must be on welfare"
She snares
her pointy nose held high in the air,
"We shouldn't have to support them"

Why are so many people of many variations
so infatuated with the color of the others skin?
Why was King's dream seen post mordum?
They told me to go to Africa and beat on my drum
And all I can do is sigh and be happy with what the world has become.
I heard some dude say Black people need their own island
I joyfully told him, "I'm part Choctaw Indian"
Then brought up "the white man's" century sin
He sighed, "here we go again"
If you don't like the melting pot America you can pack up your ignorance,
get on a boat and go back to Europe then.

it is unfortunate how much truth there is to what you say. my grandparents both have racist leanings (i say "leanings" because it isn't outwardly obvious) and i don't see that there can be much success in changing that about them. as much progress as we have made in recent years, we just can't wipe out prejudice. i'm not sure we ever can. but even though perfection seems impossible, we shouldn't stop trying for it. i live in a town that only has a few black people and they don't seem to get much trouble, however there is a lot of racism toward the Hmong in our area. people call them gooks and tell them "go home" but i have to agree with you that if those people have a problem with the people in this country then they should just get the hell out.

Messed Up
I used to live in a small Texas town, only a few black people. Only ten years old and one old dude got the whole neighborhood to believe me and my brothers to be drug dealers. But racism comes in all forms. My dad, whose almost got burned down by the klan itself, has "racist leanings" when it comes to white people.

I say people are better when they are different.
