Tame, my possessive child
Quiet, watch the world light up in illuminated moon
Find, someone who can give you everything
And you know I will do the same
Sleep, forevermore away from me
As you close your eyes and fall into slumber
I tend to your sails and push your boat back into the water
And watch you sail away from me

Opening her eyes to a cold darkened night
Why have you gone away?
What scars did I leave deep and bruised upon your skin
That you left you wanting to be so far away
Your words stung like a razor but were as soothing as water
A bitter beginning, with a peppermint sweet aftertaste
Turned into a sweet beginning, and a lemon bitter aftertaste
No it'll never be something we'll ever understand
But it's something I know you don't want to

Sleep, sleep forevermore in a land of complete aloneness
Forever you'll float along this river
Which never finds an end
Awake, awake you're never alone and you'll live to be free forevermore
I tended to your sails and pushed your boat back into the water
And watched you sail away from me
And she screamed and she cried wishing it would not be true
But now she feels empty and nothing
Like the feelings were felt but a million years prior
And the possessive child died in her soul
Quiet, she watches the world light up around her
And gives up on mutual everythings...

Run the river dry, for there is nothing
Black hole emptiness
Who would have guessed?
The parched, crackled stream once a steady flow
It flows for nothing
It flows for no-one
Be still my beating heart
Whenever is it not?
For you shall not beat at all again
And if you do it'll be a lie
It'll only be a lie
Or will it?

Frangipanis float mystically down the footpath, washed away by the rain
A solitary figure drenched by the water
Running to shelter which cannot be found
The pedestrians move out of her way quite quickly
As they silently pretend not to notice
Rain peltering loudly on umbrellas above
What scars do you leave deep and bruised on their skin?
The ones who know you really don't care...
A silent stranger will stop her heart
Will there ever be a perfect world? This question it makes you wonder
On the streets of the parade they say she died an old maid
Love's candle never gave a flicker
Hearts broken and torn, chances taken and ignored
A thousand matches struck, and not one single flame
Alone like the frangipanis, her soul washes away
Find someone who can give you everything
I tend to your sails and push your boat back into the water
And watch you sail away from everyone

And she sinks
And she sinks
As she tries to stay afloat
Tumbling down into the river
Latched onto the shore, wet and frozen to the bone
What feelings now can she trust?
Cause they come and they go and they never stay around
What scars did I leave on your skin?
Haunted by memories so beautiful and rare
Mixed with memories bleeding with agony, regret and disdain
She still sinks
She still sinks
But she isn't drowning anymore
Captured by an gentle ocean wave
The scars on our skin are now healing
I am no longer unsafe without you
I am no longer sinking
Maybe you were the scar which has faded away...

Autumn,s River
I like this. As I read it though, I sense that this could imply to a mother releasing her grip on a child that has left the nest. It seems that she has taught (him / her) all that she could so now its time for them to either sink or swim, But to know that she will always be there. That,s just my take on your write. Either way, it,s still very nicely written and very descriptive. Thanks again for shareing.
