spell check might make your poor writing skills less annoying, but then again maybe not.

( Posted by: TINKER [Member] On: April 20, 2006 )

ermmm?
This is either post-modern satire at its best or misspelt barely literate drivel at its worst. Oh well, who cares?

( Posted by: ogg [Member] On: April 21, 2006 )

ARROGANT
You and your good friend wolfe should pull your money together and buy a dictionary since neither of you seems able to use computer spell checking. Or could this be another case of lit.erary bipolarism? It is arrogant of you to expect your work to be taken seriously when you show such disdain for basic writing skills like SPELLING.

Tinker
How about you actually post something, so we can talk about your writing instead of your halfwitted comment?

( Posted by: Viper9 [Member] On: April 22, 2006 )

VIPER9
What's that supposed to mean? You want to talk about the size of my penis? What does my penis size have to do with anything?

( Posted by: TINKER [Member] On: April 22, 2006 )

( Posted by: schindees [Member] On: April 22, 2006 )

Typing skills
I don't get it. Is TINKER saying he writes with his penis? The visual of his 'hunt and peck' method is just gross. Oh, I guess that would be 'hunt and pecker'?

BTW, Shindees- I can appreciate your passion, but spelling is, uh, kind of important for writing. (So is punctuation.) I didn't get what you were trying to say at all, something about individualism, and apparently you are not a happy american. Have a coke. feel better!

cheers,
Elizabeth

personal prerogatives
Tinker is right Schindees. This is crap. Its embarrassing to read. I don't think there is any rule about having to post something in order to be allowed to comment on this site? I know there are those who post their poor writings in order to validate their existence here. I don't think that Tinker has to post any writings unless he wants to. You seem to think that you don't have to re-write or spellcheck. Personal prerogatives are ok by me.

( Posted by: schindees [Member] On: April 22, 2006 )

"e pluribus unum"
You should stick to writing in Latin schindees. Perfect spelling. But what does "e pluribus unum" have to do with anything? I only have one penis. I'm flattered that Viper9, emaks and you all want to look at it. Sorry that I can't oblige my adoring public your wanton desires, but I'm just a shy old bloke.

Speaking as an english teacher...
...there is no place for illiterate, ignorant and generally needlessly poor writing on a literature site.

How dare you come here and post absolute, inane and sub-intellectual drivel HERE, in front of competent writers and readers who simply don't deserve to see... garbage?

The fact that you post this... crude garbage with NO attempt to self-edit and apparently with no education level to speak of (I've taught first and second graders who can write better than this, that's no lie) is:

RUDE
IGNORANT
FOOLISH
EMBARASSING

and to you, it SHOULD be

HUMILIATING .

What makes you think you should be submitting this stuff to Lit.Org?

Oh, my! I forgot! Someone actually approved the posting of this inane drivel and allowed us to be exposed to it! Shame on whoever allowed it to be put online, I don't care who you are, even if it's Crowe! This is $#!^!!! It has NO place here!

Nowhere is garbage like this tolerated in publication! Why should WE have to see it?

Have you ever even BEEN inside a SCHOOL?!?!?

( Posted by: the alienist [Member] On: April 22, 2006 )

Ouch Alienist!
While I agree that this rant is unreadable drivel, Alienist, I think you might be a little too harsh with its author. Let's not rake Schindees over the coals over this. Worse has been written. (Unless you were talking about Tinker. In that case, good on ya.)

Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are important for one reason: communication. If you want to get your point across -- hell, if you just want someone not to throw away your writing in disgust -- then you need to pay attention to the mechanics of your writing.

You're obviously quiet young, Schindees, so there's lots of time for you to work on your writing. Then we'll really be able to appreciate whatever ideas you have.

Re: Screw America
America invented electrcity, the artificial heart, the industrialized assembly line, Gatoraid, THE INTERNET, and most medical immunizations that did away with 20 or more previously serious ailments (like small pox). Also, a great number of foreign doctors, architects, engineers, and business professional earned their degrees here. The U.S. give more money to 3rd world nations than ALL OF EUROPE combined. We have given more $$ to fight the HIV epidemic in African THAN ALL OTHER NATIONS COMBINED.

Of course, I might be wrong about all this, maybe somebody will look it up. But I do know that if it had not been for good ole Thomas Edison the rest of the world would be reading tea leaves by candle light.

I have been all over the world, to England, Germany, France, Iceland, Guam, Japan, Mexico -- No place beats the USA, in my humble opinion.

BWOz
There's nothing wrong in patriotism and I salute you for having pride in your country. BUT I must take issue on the subject of 'America invented electricty' the website http://www.codecheck.com/pp_elect.html
will give you some fascinating information about electricity including the facts that in approx 600 BC, the Greeks discovered that rubbing amber against fur cloth produced a strange effect (static electricty), this was unexplained for centuries until about 1600 AD when Dr William Gilbert coined the term 'electricity' Ben Franklin (your lot) was next, followed by Sir Michael Faraday (UK) who first found a practical way of generating small amounts of electricity. Volta, an Italian, and the list of great men goes on. So, let's not get too blinkered by patriotism when many extraordinary people around the world deserve a bit of a mention.
Take care
