‘We woulda been finished a lot sooner,’ Yelina said crossly, working on Carly’s super-suit, ‘if you didn’t keep running off. Hold still!’

All three girls were dressed in their almost-completed suits. Boom-Boom Kitty wore his as well, and scampered about, impatient to be off.

‘I am holding still!’

‘No you’re not! You keep bouncing up and down!’

‘Well, I’m excited!’ Carly rejoined impatiently. ‘Ow!’

‘I said “hold still!” You’ll get stuck again if you don’t stop wiggling!’

‘You did that on purpose!’

‘Accidentally on purpose.’

‘Same thing.’

‘Is not!’

‘Is too!’

‘Is not!’

‘Whatever. There! It’s done.’

‘Okay!’ Kiko said, ‘let’s go!’

They laughed at the way Boom-Boom Kitty flew beside them, with all four legs and his tail spread out, like a cat leaping out of a tree.

‘Look,’ Carly giggled, ‘it’s Super Kitty!’

‘I didn’t think he’d be able to learn how to fly,’ Yelina laughed with delight, pretending to lay on her back in the air. ‘C’mere, Boomers. Wanna hitch a ride on me?’

The feline in question flew over only long enough to bounce off Yelina’s belly, using her to spring ahead of them as they flew North by Northeast.

Boof! Hey, you little bugger! Come back here.’

Kiko and Carly laughed as Yelina flew wildly about, unable to corral Boom-Boom Kitty, who evaded her like a barn swallow manoeuvring nimbly and deftly about.

‘I give up,’ Yelina said eventually, unable to keep a pleased note out of her voice.

‘Hey, if we’re invisible,’ Carly asked, ‘how come we can see one another?’

‘‘Cause we’re attuned to the same frequency that fixes it so that other people can’t see us,’ Kiko told her. ‘It cancels itself out when any two suits are turned on.’

‘Oh. How much longer till we find the Bad Guys?’

Kiko shrugged. ‘You know as much as we do. Look straight ahead into your visor. See the little red arrow that says “temporal distortion” above it?’

‘Yeah.’

‘Well, that’s either what’s left of the ship, or else it’s the Bad Guys. If it’s the ship, we’ll be there in about another fifteen minutes.’

As they drew near, Carly couldn’t make up her mind whether this was a good or a bad thing.
