~Pandora~

-

Pandora was made by Hephaestus who molded her out of clay and gave her form, after that each god and goddess gave Pandora a certain trait.
-

The story starts with Prometheus who had betrayed Zeus by loving mankind more then the gods. Prometheus stole fire and brought it down for mankind so they wouldn’t die.
-

Zeus who was enraged decided to punish Prometheus and his creation (mankind) to punish him Zeus chained him in unbreakable fetters and set a vulture over him to eat his liver each day. Because Prometheus was an immortal the liver grew back everyday but he was still tormented by it.
-

Heracles was the one who freed him during the twelve labours
-

After his rescues Zeus decided to punish not only him but also mankind. And ordered the other gods/goddess to make Pandora as a poisoned gift for man.
-

Before Prometheus was chained he told his brother Epimetheus never to accept gifts from the gods. Epimetheus in the end didn’t listen to his brother and when Pandora arrived he feel in love with her.
-

Hermes told him that Pandora was a gift to the titan from Zeus, and warned Epimetheus never to pen the box that was in the possession of Pandora. And told him not to allow her to open it to.
-

Before Pandora mankind lived in a paradise without any type of worry. Epimetheus told Pandora again and again never to hope the box she had received. However one day Pandora’s Curiosity thanks to Hera got the better of her and she opened it.
-

Once the box was opened it unleashed all the misfortunes of mankind such as plagues, sorrow, poverty, crime etc… after witnessing all these horrible things fly out she shut the lid down.
-

By the time she had closed the box everything except one thing stayed inside the box. Which was Hope. The world remained extremely bleak for an unspecified interval. Until Pandora chanced to revisit the box again. At that point hope fluttered out.
The daughter of Epimetheus and Pandora was Pyrrha, who married Deucalion and was one of the two who survived the deluge.
The titan Epimetheus ("hindsight") was responsible for giving a positive trait to each and every animal. However, when it was time to give man a positive trait, there was nothing left. Prometheus ("foresight"), his brother, felt that because man was superior to all other animals, man should have a gift no other animal possessed. So Prometheus set forth to steal fire from Zeus and handed it over to man.

Wow!
Good work! Very complete. How did it influence you? Did you like it? Do you feel it's sexist? How does it compare to the story of Adam and Eve?
