For Rachel - By Daniel L. Tracy

Did you ever know that youíre my superhero, able to leap small problems in a single bound?
You speak profound sounds into my ears,
and steer me away from trouble, like Iím a steaming locomotive barreling down
the mountainside toward a gap in the track.
Youíre my moon-sent, my twilight, my
daylight in the midnight of my nightmares.
Youíre the one who keeps me afloat
when my boatís about to sink.
I think fast, but I canít outlast the past without you pushing me forward.
Door-ward, toward the entrance to my dream schemes.
You exceed my expectations, and you promote relaxation throughout all my permutations.
Just when it seems like youíve locked the doors and thrown away the key, you mutate and rejuvinate to create new worlds for me to see.
Youíre my superhero,
my savior,
the endless dream I savor,
my sweetness,
my purveyor.
Youíre always there when Iím in doubt, or when thereís too much weight to bear, ready to ensnare my heart for another crusade instead of the charade I like to parade around the town masquerading as myself.
Did you ever know that youíre my superhero, able to leap tall shadows and shallow frowns?
Youíre the one Iíve found to keep me on the ground instead of falling through the sky.
Youíre the one who taught me how to deny time and rely on my wits and rhymes.
Youíre the sigh at the end of the day
that takes my stress away.
Youíre my stardust,
my pixie,
my rainfall,
my winter.
Did you ever know that youíre my superhero, able to balance my center through both silence and sound?
