When we were young
we would have been everything
Now we just get lost
In the lines and the sound
get caught up in the city for
everything it gives, it takes
life in return.
Everything was too easy
It's nothing thats hard.
Now we recycle our songs
With different words make
new art and
steal lines from the cinema,
pant faces on trains. What
keeps us alive? When the world
tears us apart?
Maybe its
the gleam of steel, tarnished silver
store windows, dust
and silk, the darkness of roses.
The handsome men,
wishing they were our's,
else we must be those devils,
Johnson sang about.
