My time to write has dwindled low
My time has ceased to be.
I suffer from lack of sleep
And have no time for me.

My needlepoint is dusty now
and books are put away.
My days no longer have a plan
As love has come to stay.

It was our plan to be just two
A husband and a wife.
We had our plans, our hopes and dreams
It was a simple life!

I was too old to have a child
My life was set, I thought.
Then came a call, a plea for help
We decided to adopt.

Baby Alex came at one day old
To bring us untold joy.
So I have fallen right in love
with our growing baby boy.

as I wipe peanut butter
off my computer mouse
A tiny ball of energy
Is messing up my house.

Nice ode
A nice ode to your ball of energy, a mixed blessing no doubt, but welcome nevertheless! This is something to put in his baby book for when he's all grown up, so he can look back and see how appreciated he was from the very beginning.

Nice to have you back!

Thank you Viper
It's nice to be back although I type with 1 hand and fend BAby off with the other!!! It is a sheer blessing to have him though even though I am likely the only mother, who when we brought him home, was trying desperatly to selct formula and diapers and having hot flashes!!

Poor Excuse!

Welcome back! And have you been busy, I am sure it is years since I last saw your poetry and it is still as excellent as ever.

As an ex foster parent and having two adopted sons (now 16 and 19 years old) I am delighted to see you have expanded your family this way. Feel free to email me if you have any pics etc.

Back to your poetry, I remember spending quite some time reading your posts and wishing there were more of us 'adopted' good old fashioned rhyming style, I must go back and see what other delights I have missed.

Have Fun,

Special Blessing--Demure_1
I thought I would read more of your poetry. I found this one today. What a beautiful poem and story. What a special blessing to have an adopted child, a little baby. I envy you.
