Nothing is promised and nothing is deniable.
But, unattainable. Certainly
I can say that much.

Pink and red and blue jean flowers. Too expensive but
on my leg
just the same.

Reaching for that which we do not have
which is
infinitly growing to outnumber
any number
of things we could possibly possess.

"God grant me distraction."

Forever and a Day
. . . since I read your work! Great to have you back, and I hope you'll stick around for a while.

This poem is a terrific comeback. What I enjoyed most about it is that the words can be read as a condemnation or an affirmation of capitalism's consequences -- it's all a matter of tone.

On that note, I think this would be an effective spoken word piece, as you could read it twice, in both tones.

Hi guys!

Thank you for your kind words. I have a lot of poems built up from my time away and I thought I'd start posting again to get some feedback and clean some of them up for submission...eventually. Ha.

Also I've noticed some really great new stuff being posted around here so I wanted to start commenting again. :)

Bob- Thank you...I have missed you all too.

Viper- I hope I do too, time permitting! :) I actually wrote this as a condemnation, but I like that you say it as an affirmation. One of my favorite things about creative writing...

Bobby7L- Hi. :) Nice to meet you!
