The time is fast approaching
Soon I will be at the end
Of my lease.

Still, I find myself
In a place of inner peace.

As each days brings me closer
To the end and my demise

It makes me appreciate more fully
All that comes before my eyes.

I doggedly pursue the things
In life I hold so dear

And hold the ones I truly love
As though they were rarely here.

I intend to have as much
Happiness as I can
Before my final bill is due

And death had best be very
Patient for I certainly will
Be late on a payment or two.

Even though I know what’s
At journey’s end, I am
Savoring every day.

It is not where the
Road begins or ends
It’s what’s along the way

And if a greater appreciation
Of life is what the end
Will bring

Then surely death is not entirely a bad thing.

Romay's Journey
Well I am glad you can't see me right now, this brought me to tears, but that is just me the sentimental gal.

I wish I could rate this higher than a 10 because you surely deserve it on this one. The poem itself flows. It is like a song to me. Very personal and so very you.

I love

Thanks for the comment. I never know what kind of response I'll get when I write a piece. I just do what comes naturally and hope for the best. I'll call this weekend........The Junkyard Poet

Journey's End
High five!!! It is good to see you in words for this is your every fiber and said so eloquently too. I think I am going to just totally default on my payments then maybe death will find me not worth the effort...crossing my fingers on it...Char
