With itís single emerald leaf
a ribbon to be won
held high upon the bronze stem
a warning to others
stand back, this is my cherry!

She dared not pierce
the polished surface
to savor the sweet flesh
but rather treasured
itís heart shaped existence
a ruby gem,
held in the throne of her hand,
cherished.

Majestic fruit.
Fierce.

But then,
in one delightful moment
without thought or feeling
She gave in.

Sweet meat.
Tender and Fresh.

That cherry which she had devoted herself
to guarding was
no more.
