outside I am
what I am not
my truth hidden
far away inside
the forbidden shelf
away from a world
that would condemn
me for loving you

Aside from the flow of words working well, I like your message the best. It is a strong and powerful one that says much about our bigoted society.

This could describe so many socially 'verboten' situations beyond, for example, love in the batcave. Everybody has an inside hidden from the outside- hidden to different degrees from different outsiders. Does anybody reveal themselves completely to another- or even to themselves?

The 'forbidden love' aspect may be less universal but I think any caring human can identify with this.

Only a few months later..
..but everyone likes to see that even their older stuff gets recognition, right? ;)

I love this - a melancholy build-up to a heart breaking confession (love) that's made in darkness and silence, rather than the usual joyous outcry of affection. It made me incredibly sad with less than 30 words.

An excellent post, sorry it took me so long to get to it!
