How many times she sought to but didnít
Flaunt her rite to be herself
Lonely nights in a cold bed hidden
A ready heart on a secret shelf

Explosions within that silence the dawn
Tremors suppressed keep sunrise at bay
Days begin with no will to move on
Less hope each morning than just yesterday

Dumb and blind to all that she is
Knowing only the flesh to soon fade
She still willing to be only his
He just devouring the day she made

Soon this ends and his frame is no more
His hand doesnít raise nor does his voice
He doesnít come in like he did before
But gone with him is the rite of choice

To choose life not death, not doom but joy
To make her own way and break off the chains
Free her self from the abusive employ
And make new things from that which remains

These things he took when he left that day
The most important of all their union owned
A treasure of gems that inspire a way
When life holds the bread and presents a stone

Where does it come from, this will to thrive
Amidst the anguish and daily woes
From whence comes the strength to stay alive
How will she make it? Only she knows

Empowering
Quite empowering and a wonderful read. Makes you think of powerlessness and yet overriding it everyday. Thanks for the great read.
