Young and beautiful
he stepped into her life,
things would never be the same
for this man and wife.

She loved him with her all,
this adorable young man.
They would love forever,
at least, that was the plan.

When the road got rocky
they separated for a while,
she loved and rocked their babies
hoping he would come home in a while.

A new day dawned unlike the rest;
the news that blasted her world apart,
when playing Russian Roulette
a bullet pierced her darling's heart.

A beautiful love ended for him,
one he could not have known.
Buried beneath the musty earth
he left her all alone.

After thirty years she bears his name,
no one could ever take his place.
Maybe one day they will be together
in another time and space.

This world was not theirs for long
and nothing has been the same,
without her charming golden haired love.
Rest in peace, Jerry Wayne.

I read your poems
rich and sweet
then lay roses at
your feet.

char, how very touching
so much heart and soul went into this poem, and I wouldn't ruin the precious moment of it by submitting any critiques. Another time!

Thank You
Thank you eleda & windchime for reading and commenting. This trajedy actually happened to my best friends. Only recently did I learn that she has never remarried, when I found my friend through the internet, after over thirty years. I was so touched that I had to say something. He was killed a month short of his twenty-first birthday but she is proof that love lives on. My friends are the heart and soul of this piece; they lived it. I am glad to be back, although I am never too far away from here. I read without comment most of the time but I do appreciate input and am pleased you like this. Thank you again for your kind words.
