Walking on a thin blade
of a sharpened sword,
trying desperately not to get cut,
or succumb
to the gravitational
pull below.

Walking this edge
has made me weary
for the blade is sharp and deadly.
All it takes is one look left or right
to make me waver,
hesitate,
and lose my sight.

If I should throw caution to the wind,
step recklessly without thought,
without determination
to reach the end,
I might plunge into madness,
and never recover again?

The only way off the sword’s edge
and remain sane,
is to move cautiously forward
not look back,
not even for a second’s need.
For if I linger here too long,
I will surely fall
the blade will cut
and I will bleed.

Compelling!!
This is great...I'm so glad I decided to open lit today. I can't get over the imagery and the preciseness in which you describe life!!

Serendipity
Wow, thank you for the compliment. I nearly forgot about this one, Edge of Madness was quite difficult to write, using the right words to express how life can be sometimes. Just when i think i've got it, something comes along and knocks me on my arse...anyway, thank you.
