BRUSSELS, BELGIUM (27 NOVEMBER 2005) - Starting on the 25th December 2005 until the 25th January 2006, the New Worlds Project's website will be completely shut down whilst minimal writing activities will continue on the DragonMuseNetwork. The New Worlds Project, a science-fiction play-by-post role-playing and creative writing website, officially announced its intentions to its members on the 25th November. The measure to close down shop is the first time the group takes such a bold step. The decision was taken by New Worlds' Administrative Operations Managers, who are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the New Worlds Project.

Whilst the website is down, the New Worlds Administration will take steps to upgrade the content management software which New Worlds uses as its backend. For over a year now, New Worlds has been using e107 to improve the functionality of the website. e107 is one of the leading open-source CMS software available on the web. The makers of New Worlds' CMS software are expected to release a new version of their cutting-edge software in the coming months. The Administration, however, will not simply be updating software. A 14-page website plan approved last summer will be implemented during the one-month downtime. Massive cosmetic changes, large updates to the available background content, a complete forum redesign are all in the works.

"The decision to close down shop for one month was considered carefully by the Administrative Operations Managers, we had originally thought we were going to be closing down for only a couple of weeks but AOM TealFox was keen on extending the period not only to give the staff more time to complete additional upgrades that will make e107 even more uniquely adapted to our needs but also to further improve the New Worlds storyline. This website project will not only improve the user-end, there will also be major changes and improvements for staff on the back-end," AOM Monty, Officer of Member Relations, said.

New Worlds will be able to count on a dedicated team of helpers as it improves its website. Skilled graphic designers have kindly offered to assist the New Worlds team. Their assistance will enable New Worlds to expand its image bank and implement new eye-catching designs for its entry page. Other surprises are being planned by the small graphics design team. Furthermore, already built-in forum upgrades will be further enhanced by a small team of coders issued from e107's own community websites.

"The e107 support community has been of invaluable assistance in this project. We would not have been able to prepare the implementation of new features so completely had it not been for their assistance. There are so many names to thank, our acknowledgements page will grow quite substantially," AOM TealFox, Officer of External Relations and Co-Founder of the New Worlds Project, commented.

Other helpful hands have agreed to support the work of the New Worlds team. When New Worlds returns in January, it will be releasing a new version of its theme song. British composer Michael Shipway, an award-winning musician has agreed to revamp New Worlds' current theme song.

One month is a long time to be down, accordingly the New Worlds Administration have negotiated with their partners in the DragonMuseNetwork to ensure minimal service is maintained. A small level of writing activity will continue on the DragonMuseNetwork. New Worlds, a member game of the DragonMuseNetwork will be using its downtime to promote the value of the network to its members.

"The Network has given us some high visibility amongst the partners, we felt this was a good way to return the favour," AOM Alex, Officer of Continuity and Co-Founder of the New Worlds Project, remarked.

On Christmas day, the metamorphosis of New Worlds will begin. On 25th January 2006, that metamorphosis will be complete. By then, the New Worlds Project will certain be a destination worth visiting again. Creative writers and role-players alike beware; your calendars will need to be kept free for a war that will begin once more on the 25th January 2006!
