Rarely failing;
Full of wonder,
Ages eyes stare
As life unfolds.

As he gazes
Into the horizon
And all that is
Before him.

He thinks
About life;
How brief the encounter,

About time…
Time and life
How truly precious
And time lost

Lost forever
Because his eyes,
Many times
Were blinking.

And blind
As he lie sleeping
The things his
Winking eyes missed

Eyes which
From birth were gifted,
Could see beyond
What was shown.

On his journey
He has witnessed
Many things
Ever fleeting

Past and present
He has seen plenty,
This, his open heart
Does show.
The youth within him
Long since buried and
An older, wiser version
Left to carry on.

There is much now
To see and do
Before it is his time to go.

Sight
A well said reminder of time slipping away; life, from beginning to end passes half-noticed, and hind-sight is 20/20...otherwise we might be oblivious to all the years.

Always,
Char

Sight and wisdom
It is wonderful to see not only with eyes but with wisdom as well. I really enjoyed reading this. Nice to see you here.

Isn't it...
like a flower that opens one day and closes the next..... but it left such an impression on me.
Thanks again.

Romay,
I've read this several times but only now does it really hit me, the depth and beautiful quality of this. I can't keep telling you how brilliant I know you are, your wisdom flows in your writing.
I once thought it was good for you to write and now I know it is good for us as well.

This really hits home with things that have recently happened. Time is something we all seem to take for granted. The observer in me thanks you for this wonderful insightful poem. One I will come back to read often for each time I see something different and valuable.

Well done my friend.

Dar's Comment
One of the reasons I write is to possibly help someone with the struggle. When I am able to do this and hear of it, it is a great feeling. Thank-You so very much for one of many, many wonderful comments you have left me over the years...........Romay

Typo
The Third line should read: Aged eyes stare ..........Romay

Another Correction
Stanza 9 and stanza 10 should have a space between the two to seperate them. Apparently they did not transfer from Word correctly and I missed it also......Romay

visionary
Romay,

I yearn to grow old and become a bit of a "seer" with all the insightful vision and wisdom that comes with time and the ripening of my mind and being. “Gazing at the horizon” and looking back at an “older version of myself to carry on”.
That I find mind blowing, as usual your simplistic style says so much yet is so complex. It just leaves me with a clean feeling, as this poem does.

Poets and old Wine
Romay,

It appears your poetry is maturing like an old wine....better for the passing of time. Just found this one as I struggle to catch up. your poetry makes me very aware that for everythything there is a cost.

I have been enjoying a particularily busy and exciting time to add to my reflections, but have missed my frequent visits here.

Still with 6 ladies visiting you on this one I am sure you are well within your comfort zone!

Have Fun,

Ivor

Romay, 8-10's!!!!!!!!!!
Speak LOUDLY for themselves. I thank you for your sweet reply. You deserve each comment I've given, and more, I've fallen behind. AND I read all these comments here and I am proud of you.

See it is not just a couple or a few folks who find your wisdom magnetic,,, that come back to your name over and over. THAT is a great compliment to your work. You're a good shit honey!!
