Verse 1

I see a bed of roses, as I am born
How did I not notice,
That it's full of thorns.

Let into this world, an uncontrollable fate
Lying in this ball I'm curled,
Sadness written all over my face.

Bittersweet, can't seem to land on my feet
In this world that we're living in
Bittersweet, just can't handle defeat
'Cause the holes in my back are breaking the skin.

Bittersweet, what if I can't meet
Your expectations - do I have to live a life?
Bittersweet, can't seem to land on my feet
Barefoot on the blade of a knife.

Verse 2

Growing up with the lies I'm told, I don't know what to believe
Growing up with these lies, so old, I don't know how to perceive
Your views of me, the words you speak, when I'm not around.
How am I supposed to stand my ground?
