A great many men it seems
To my dismay,
Thoughts run no deeper
Than an ice tray.

They think of sex but
Not foreplay.
If their minds not out
On some fairway.

And the many women who
Live with these dopes
Spend all their time
Watching soaps.

They are all living in
Their dreams
The dreams of them or
So it seems.

I am of course speaking of
The very shallow;
People who’s perfectly good
Minds lie fallow.

And life flies by
In such haste,
All the while their minds
Are spent on waste.
They speak of themselves
Like they were king’s
And queen’s,
Let’s talk about me
Not other things.

I suppose they don’t have
A problem with self esteem;
Trouble is they are everywhere,
These king’s and queen’s.

Needing to have some entertainment I turn my computor on (shh!!! its on all day and night!) Ok, so it's on, but I come here to surf'n'search.
Entertained alright! I like your life's views and how you express them. Noting a touch of humour, whether it is meant or not this time, I am unsure, but I found it jovial.
I respect your work, commend you for your ability to put things in light.

This is one of my favorites of yours. Funny to read a man write of others lacking the "foreplay". LOL.....usually the woman writes that.....

What of those of us who never watch a soap opera? And what of those men who DO? LOL.

Nice one Handsome!!

love ya,
Dar ;)

Kings and Queens
I wonder where we go wrong in teaching our children to be shallow and self-serving? Talk about pandemic!
This light-hearted observation of being so self-centered brought to mind this recent experience:
My oldest started college this year. Upon meeting her room-mate, an attractive girl from Long Island- after exchanging hellos, the roommate's FIRST question was "Where do we get our nails done?".... it made me giggle. Thank God my daughter is much more level headed and aware of the outside world.
Ice tray, huh? Great analogy! Always enjoy your perspective! Thanks-

Elizabeth

Barren Kingdoms
Charmr- Fun read.

I read first stanza:

A great many men/To my dismay/Have thoughts no deeper/Than old ice tray

Fourth stanza was not tight for me..Word "Dreams" used twice didn't help redundant feel.

I see piece is rated with all 10's. Forget above. I won't continue.

Foreplay On,
RW
