who is it back there that whispers death,
in a tone so black, it makes snakes eat their own tales?

who is it yelling so soft it evaporates in sunshine,
and dews the soggy grass as i trudge along?

who is it counting seconds in random numbers,
touching the surface of the still water from underneath?

who is it breaking feathers and laughing,
as they spiral hopelessly like suicidal pilots crashing?

who is it gazing through the mirror
looking in the mirror,
looking in the mirror...

looking like he wants to kill me?
